IG Sacco has effected a leadership change following the formal handover of office from outgoing Chief Executive Officer CPA Peter Vuhyah to Mary Awino.
The transition took place on Tuesday at the IG Sacco Head Office in Kakamega, marking the end of Vuhyah’s 26-year tenure at the financial institution.
Vuhyah formally handed over the instruments of office to Awino, who previously served as the Sacco’s Finance Manager.
The change in leadership ushers in a new chapter for IG Sacco as Awino assumes responsibility for steering the institution’s operations and development agenda.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, both Vuhyah and Awino expressed confidence in the Sacco’s continued growth, while emphasising the need for sustained commitment to its members and institutional objectives.
Vuhyah’s departure marks the end of more than two decades of service at the Sacco, during which he served in various capacities before rising to the position of chief executive.

Awino brings to the new position experience from her previous role as Finance Manager, where she was involved in the Sacco’s financial operations.
The leadership transition is expected to provide an opportunity for the new administration to set out its priorities and vision for the institution.
Staff and other stakeholders who witnessed the handover were urged to support the new leadership as the Sacco enters its next phase.
The new administration is expected to focus on maintaining continuity while pursuing initiatives aimed at strengthening the Sacco and enhancing services to its members.
