ACCOSCA champions Africa’s cooperative voice in Fiji

The African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA) has taken Africa’s cooperative finance experience to a high-level global dialogue in Nadi, Fiji.

The Government of Fiji, in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), invited ACCOSCA to share Africa’s experience during a UN Capacity Building Initiative held in the city.

Representing the confederation, George Ombado presented the African perspective on the continent’s cooperative financial sector, alongside ACCOSCA’s work in strengthening institutional capacity and global engagement.

Also featured at the meeting was Ilcheong Yi, Chair of the United Nations Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC), who stressed the importance of stronger international collaboration.

Meanwhile, Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Industry, Commerce and Business Development and Public Enterprises, Manoa Kamikamica, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to using the cooperative model to drive economic participation and regional cooperation across the Pacific.
