The Agriculture and Food Authority, (AFA) has licensed a total of 152 coffee dealers to export coffee from Kenya.
In a statement on Tuesday AFA director general Dr Bruno Linyiru stated that the dealers were licensed under various categories, coffee Buyers are 126, Coffee Warehousemen 15 and Coffee Agents 11.
Dr Linyiru stated that there is no other company that has been given exclusive rights to export coffee adding that the issuance of licenses follows transparent licensing procedure whereby applicants are vetted approved and subsequently gazetted before being authorized to export coffee.
“Only those exporters whose names have been duly published in the Kenya Gazette are recognized as legitimate exporters. Any person or entity engaging in coffee exports without proper licensing and gazettement shall be in violation of the law and will face appropriate legal action,” part of the statement read.

Registration of coffee dealers in the country is an ongoing process, undertaken continuously within the confines of the law.
During the registration process, dealers must be gazetted through a Kenya Gazette Notice which also gives the public 14 days period to submit any objection of grant of license.
Last week AFA announced its intention to grant licenses to 10 firms to engage in coffee export, roasting and packaging.
The authority gave stakeholders 14 days from August 22, 2025 to submit detailed feedback or concerns in connection with the proposed licenses.
