Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC) has been recognised at the Global Sustainable Finance Conference held at Karlsruhe City Hall in Germany, winning the “Outstanding Business Sustainability Achievement” award.
The recognition makes AFC the first Kenyan institution to achieve SSCI certification, marking a significant milestone in the corporation’s sustainability journey.
The award recognises how AFC has woven sustainability into its corporate strategy, governance structures and day-to-day business operations.

Beyond the accolade itself, the corporation says the achievement strengthens its role in advancing Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) by supporting rural farmers with climate-smart financing solutions and contributing to a more competitive, resilient national economy.
AFC leadership at the ceremony
The corporation was represented at the conference by Managing Director George Kubai, Chief Finance and Investment Officer Betty Sure, and Senior Credit Officer Junetapelin Karimi.
Kubai received the award on behalf of AFC, joined on stage by Sure and Karimi, alongside Dr. Frank Mentrup, Lord Mayor of Karlsruhe, and Arshad Rab, CEO of the European Organisation for Sustainable Development (EOSD).
