ASK Kisumu branch rejects relocation plans from CBD

The Agricultural Society of Kenya ( ASK) Kisumu branch has vowed to resist plans by the county government to relocate it to an alternative site.

The branch Chairperson George Ongudi said they are yet to discuss such an undertaking with the county government.

“Such an idea has never even been brought to our attention by the county government,” he said.

He was reacting to reports in the media where the city manager Abala Wanga said the showground located in Mamboleo  is among facilities earmarked for relocation from the central business district in order to pave way for development.

Ongudi said plans to relocate the show ground to Kibos are farfetched and misplaced and that the society would go to any lengths to protect the showground.

He categorically stated that the national trustees of the ASK cannot accept such a transaction.

“We are the bonafide owners of the land the showground stands hence we will  resist such overtures up to the highest levels possible,” he said.
