According to the Chairman, Joseph Njamuku the Society spends Sh16,000 per month on the school feeding programme, aimed at school pupils from poor families living in slum areas.

“The porridge helps pupils to get energy and concentrate on their classwork. We are planning to continue with this programme next year,” he said. Biashara Sacco has also donated clothing, including 68 sweaters and muffins to assist poor pupils stay warm during the cold season. The Society has also begun a mentorship programme for Form Four students preparing to join university. “In all our eight branches, we have picked three students each whom we mentor and provide with cash to work at the branch during the holidays. We also train them to be disciplined at the university,” said Njamuku. The Sacco also has branches in Laikipia and Embu.
