The County Government has set aside Sh20 million to revive ailing local Co-operative societies.
Executive Member for Trade, Industry and Tourism, Adam Dhida said the funds will be used as a revolving fund to provide capital base for Co-operative movement.
Speaking after launching Tana Mango Marketing Co-operative, Dhida also revealed that more funds would be provided based on the response of existing Co-ops.
He said the ministry would only provide funds after probing financial viability of individual Co-operatives and their ability to handle finances prudently.
Director of Co-operative Auditing, Jeremiah Mkwa said Tana Teachers Sacco Society became insolvent because its central management committee ventured into micro finance businesses.
