Kenya Re donates 1pc of its profits to disabled

People With Disabilities (PWDS) have been urged to save their money through Saccos to receive loans which will enable them expand their businesses. Kenya Re-insurance Managing Director, Jidiah Mwarania said the company has embarked on a campaign aimed at creating independence for people with disabilities. He disclosed that Kenya Re has invested one per cent of its profit margin of Sh32 million in businesses supporting disabled persons.
The company supplies the disabled with equipment like wheel chairs which can ferry business goods and also facilitates them with startup capital. Mwarania made the remarks in a speech delivered on his behalf by Corporate Affairs Manager, Gladys Some at 64 Stadium in Eldoret during the launch of the programme dubbed” Niko Fiti Campaign” He said as Social Corporate Responsibility to the society, Kenya Re is keen in ensuring that people with disabilities enjoy their rights and equality in society. During the event a number of PWDS received mobility and assistive devices that will financially empower them to better their lives.
