County to offer technical advice to Saccos

County Co-operative commissioner Mary Mkare has said county administration will continue to offer technical support to Saccos in the region.
Mkare said the county will also provides capacity building and training programmes for the officials of newly registered Saccos to enable them offer effective service to members.
She asked all Saccos to ensure that they are registered by the Ministry of Development before they start their operations. She said that her office had last yearregistered a total of 26 Saccos and the process of registering more is ongoing.
She lauded Imarika Sacco in the county for achieving high strides of development.
Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives (KUSCCO) director in charge of Coast and North Eastern provinces, Alfred Mlolwa asked Saccos in Coast region to join KUSCCO which is the umbrella body of all socities in the country.
The director said that Saccos are the backbone of the country’s economy and they equally deserve great support from both National and County governments for its rapid growth.
Mlolwa also praised Imarika Sacco for its great efforts of realising remarkable developments and asked other Saccos in the region to emulate this giant society which has been offering quality services to members in a professional way.
He further asked saccos in the area to exercise good governance and innovation for its growth.
