The Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary CS Mutahi Kagwe has distributed nine milk coolers to farmer producer organizations and institutions in Nakuru County.
The nine are part of 230 coolers procured through the Livestock Value Chain Support Project (LVCSP) at a cost of Ksh 1.2Billion.
Speaking when he presided over the 69th Graduation Ceremony of the Dairy Training Institute Naivasha (DTI) CS Kagwe said that the LVCSP, aims to raise household incomes by 30% among targeted dairy and pastoralist communities by 2028.
“The project is enhancing milk productivity, reducing post-harvest losses, promoting value addition, and expanding market access for smallholders.” He added
Once fully deployed, Kagwe reiterated that the 230 coolers will increase national milk chilling capacity by 475,000L per day, translating to an additional 173M litres annually.
He furher added that the Ministry continues to support DTI with modern infrastructure and programs aligned to the Government Agenda, ensuring agriculture remains youth driven and vibrant.

The CS also commended DTI’s revenue generation efforts and encouraged the use of its 1,000 acres through Public Private Partnerships to develop modern facilities and livestock feed production ventures.
The CS congratulated the Class of 2025, lauding their resilience and practical skills that make DTI graduates highly marketable across the dairy value chain. He noted that the dairy industry remains a key pillar of Kenya’s economy, offering vast opportunities for youth to innovate, create jobs, and drive rural transformation.
“Your training at DTI has prepared you not just for employment, but to become employers, building enterprises that will transform our rural economies,” said CS Kagwe.
