The Tumeiyo Farmers’ Cooperative has been gifted a brand new pickup truck valued at Ksh4.1 million by the Elgeyo Marakwet county government.
The vehicle, delivered by the Cooperatives and Trade CECM Robert Kangogo, will be used to collect milk from farmers and transport it to the Kamet Union in Metkei.
Kangogo encouraged the cooperative members to use the truck wisely, emphasizing that it was acquired to empower farmers and increase their overall earnings.
“This vehicle will address the transportation challenges you have faced in the past while delivering milk to collection centers,” he stated.
Leonard Kimutai, the farmers’ representative, expressed gratitude to the county government for providing the vehicle, stating that it will help to boost milk production.
“We are thankful to Governor Wisley Rotich’s administration for fulfilling its promise. With this vehicle, we will be able to deliver our milk to Kamet. Some of our farmers have been relying on expensive boda bodas.” Kimutai remarked.
