Kakamega gets first indigenous crops seed bank

Tupande One Acre Fund in partnership with the Seed Servers Network Kenya has established the first ever indigenous and traditional crops community seed bank in Kakamega County.

The initiative, dubbed the Mahiakalo Baraka Farmers Community Seed bank located in Lurambi aims to preserve indigenous crops to prevent their extinction.

According Tupande One Acre Fund, the endeavors tend to promote agro-biodiversity and enhance farmer’s climate resilience.

This is the third bank after Kisii and Bungoma counties
