Members of the controversial KatelemboMuvutiAthiani Coffee Farmers and Ranching Co-operative Society have finally received their title deeds.
The over 3,000 members were issued with the much awaited documents recently at a ceremony presided over by the Chairman Peter Kamba and attended by County Commissioner of Co-operatives Charles Nalianya and Machakos Deputy County Commissioner George Onyango.
According to Mr. Kamba, a task force that was appointed by the commissioner four months ago had discovered that some members had fake membership cards. He warned that if such culprits do not surrender to the office, then they would be liable for prosecution.
The Society has been faced with leadership wrangles which saw a section of their bosses sued over alleged mismanagement. Many members claimed to have lost their land to double allocations perpetuated by a cartel connected to some managers.
