Nairobi Coffee Exchange sale one results (October 7, 2025)

Sale 1 of the 2025/2026 season took place on 7th October 2025, at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange.

A total of 11,179 bags (695,939 kg) of coffee were sold across all brokers. The sale generated a total value of USD 5,222,913, equivalent to approximately Ksh 704 million, with an overall average price of USD 375.24 per 50 kg bag ($ 7.50 per Kg or Ksh 149 per Kg of Cherries).

By grade, AB dominated trading with 3,953 bags worth USD 1.93 million at an average of USD 398, followed by C grade with 3,070 bags worth USD 1.42 million at an average of USD 374, and AA grade with 1,024 bags worth USD 590,759.82 at an average of USD 454 per Bag.

In the market, grades AA, AB and C contributed more than 70 percent of the total market share.

“In the just-concluded 2024/2025 season, AB grade dominated volumes, accounting for 37 percent of all coffee traded, followed by AA at 22 percent and C at 13 percent,” read part of the report.

In the first auction for the year 2025/2026, 11,179 bags weighing 695,939 kg of coffee were traded generating approximately Ksh704 million.

Alliance Berries marketed 2,922 bags, New KPCU 2,926 bags, Kipkelion 944 bags, KCCEMA 891 bags.

Others were Meru Union 697 bags, CEBBA 608 bags, Kirinyaga Slopes 581bags. United Eastern 421 bags, Minnesota Marketers 353 bags, Mt. Elgon 315bags, Murang’a Union 265 bags, and Kinya Coffee 256 bags.

Collectively, these five purchased 8,793 bags valued at USD 4.16M, which represents about 78.7% of the total volume and 80% of the total value of the entire sale, underlining their continued dominance at the Exchange.
