Sugar crop growers will go to the polls on November 24, 2026 to elect five grower representatives to the Kenya Sugar Board, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has announced.
The Elections Committee chairperson signed the notice on October 30, 2026. It tells the public and growers that voting will proceed under the applicable legal framework and any court orders.
Section 6 of the Sugar Act (No. 11 of 2024) is the legal basis for the exercise. It provides for board membership and for how grower representatives are chosen.

Preparations have moved in clear stages. On May 12, 2026, the committee invited applications from interested members of the public in the sugar catchment areas, and it extended that window on August 7, 2026. By August 20, 2026, it had published the final list of candidates.
Voters have also been catered for. The final register is available online on the board’s website. Copies have been displayed physically at the required facilities, as Rule 9(7) of the Procedure for Election of Grower Representatives to the Kenya Sugar Board, 2025 requires.
