Kewisco to establish own premises in Nairobi to cut costs

Kewisco Sacco is in the process of building its own office block in Nairobi to reduce operational costs.

Speaking during the 32nd Annual Delegates Meeting (ADM) held at the Nairobi National Park Club House, the chairperson Rebecca Kipchumba said the land had already been acquired and the Sacco was waiting for the processing of the title deed.

In the meantime, the society is carrying out the planning and preparation of the requisite paperwork for the construction of the office block.

The Sacco has also bought land in Lamu which has been subdivided into 58 different sizes and even ventured further to acquire individual titles for the plots. The Sacco intends to offer the same for sale to members once valuation is done.

In 2020, the Sacco acquired land in Tuala and subdivided it into 35 plots of an eighth acre each. Twenty eight plots have already been sold to members and only seven are remaining.

In line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, the Sacco has been supporting several stations in matters of spiritual growth and recreation.

It has also supported the Aberdares National Park to build a chapel at Solio Ranch and donated games kits and foot balls to KWS band team.

Kewisco Sacco was incorporated in 1992 to provide opportunities for personal growth for members by mobilizing savings, pooling financial resources and providing affordable credit facilities.

Membership has grown from 23 in 1992 to approximately 6,129 with a share capital of Ksh85 million and members’ deposits of Ksh1.1 billion currently.
