- KIE and KNCCI have partnered to expand support for MSMEs across Kenya
- The deal targets financing, workspace, markets, technology and business support
- Partners will pursue market linkages, training, incubation centres and industrial parks
Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE) and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at widening support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country.
The agreement was signed on Thursday and pairs KIE’s strengths in development finance, industrial infrastructure, business incubation and enterprise development with the national and county reach of the chamber’s business network. Together, the two bodies hope to reach more entrepreneurs than either could on its own.
The partnership targets some of the most stubborn hurdles facing small businesses. These include access to affordable credit, suitable workspace, reliable markets, modern technology and specialised business support. By tackling them jointly, the institutions aim to strengthen the wider ecosystem that MSMEs depend on to survive and grow.

Under the deal, the partners will pursue market linkages for small enterprises, training to build business skills and mentorship for emerging entrepreneurs. They also plan to develop industrial parks and incubation centres, and to seek public private partnerships that can bring in additional resources.
KIE Chief Executive and Managing Director Nelson Kwamini described the signing as a starting point rather than an end in itself. He said the immediate task was to turn the agreement into a focused implementation plan, backed by regular reviews to track progress. He added that the goal was to convert the MoU into practical opportunities for Kenyan entrepreneurs and support the sustainable industrialisation of MSMEs nationwide.
