Kilifi County is seeking to deepen investment partnerships with Polish businesses as it explores opportunities to expand key sectors of the local economy and create more opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Kilifi Deputy Governor Florence Chibule said the county had welcomed a high-level delegation of Polish business investors from the Polish-Kenyan Chamber of Commerce, as part of efforts to establish mutually beneficial partnerships between local businesses and Polish industry players.

The delegation was led by Michaeł Mazurewicz, Nairobi Bureau Chief of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH). Chibule said discussions with the investors focused on identifying areas where Polish expertise, technology and investment could support sustainable economic growth in the county.

Among the sectors explored were the blue economy, agricultural value addition, property development and renewable energy, particularly solar power.

The Deputy Governor said the county was also looking at opportunities to use technology to create new pathways for young people while strengthening local enterprises.

She noted that the discussions extended to emerging areas such as financial technology (FinTech) and cybersecurity, which could help equip young people with skills needed in the changing job market.

Chibule said potential partnerships in dairy cooperatives were also discussed, with the aim of strengthening cooperatives while improving opportunities for farmers and other players in the agricultural value chain.

She said the collaborations could help upskill young people and empower local MSMEs by connecting them to new technologies, markets and investment opportunities.

The Deputy Governor added that Kilifi was positioning itself as an attractive destination for sustainable investment, with partnerships with international businesses expected to complement the county’s development priorities.

The engagement comes as counties increasingly seek private-sector partnerships to support local economic development, create employment and expand opportunities for small businesses.

Chibule said strengthening cooperation between Kilifi businesses and Polish investors would help unlock new opportunities across multiple sectors and contribute to the county’s long-term economic growth.
