- Importers have been given a final window to reclaim cargo held at Nairobi container depots.
- KRA has scheduled a four-day online auction featuring consignments from several major companies.
- Food products, pharmaceuticals, industrial machinery and construction materials feature among the goods listed.
Importers who have left cargo sitting in Nairobi’s container depots have until about the end of November to collect it. After that, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will sell it online.
A Gazette Notice dated October 30, 2026, gives owners 30 days to file their customs entries and take their consignments out of the warehouse keeper’s custody. Anything still there after the deadline will be treated as abandoned. KRA will then sell it under section 42 of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004.
Bidding will run for four days, from December 14 to December 17, 2026, on KRA’s iBid portal. Before that, buyers can view the goods where they are stored on December 10 and 11, during normal working hours.
Food and medicine appear on the list, but so do heavy machinery and building supplies. Among the cargo is 1,260 packages of fortified rice and soy meal destined for the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of South Sudan. Safi Trading Company has 1,695 cartons of confectionery in the queue, while Bunyaan General Trading Company Limited has 1,200 packages of engine oil and 1,750 of baby diapers. Chevron General Trading Limited’s gear oil and diesel oil are listed too, and a number of the consignments are bound for South Sudan.
