Makueni hosts Agricultural show, farmers encouraged to embrace modern technologies

Makueni County recently held an Agricultural show, which brought together farmers and different agriculture stakeholders in the county.

Speaking during the official launching of the Show at Makindu ground, deputy governor Lucy Mulili encouraged farmers and society in general to visit the agricultural show to learn different techniques of farming among other modern technologies.

Mulili noted that farmers in Makueni are rising to the challenges of climate change by promoting climate smart agriculture bringing about innovations like drought tolerant crops, conservation farming methods, digital advisory tools and water harvesting systems all in the efforts of adopting to climate change.

She noted that farmers have come in large numbers adding that the show will be held annually from this year whose budget will be allocated.

“It’s a very beneficial show for one to learn, meet trainers of different crops, pesticides, organic farming to mitigate climate change and smart farming. Come with your paper and pen, exchange contacts and get in touch to enhance your farming techniques,” Mulili said.

She added that the county government in collaboration with Agricultural society of Kenya will continue holding the shows to support farmers in the county.

The show brought together farmers, school children, policymakers and development partners to learn connect and showcase their modern farming practices.
