New KPCU denies allegations of coffee theft from Meru factory

New KPCU Chairman Daniel Chemno addresses the media at Meru depot

The New Kenya Planters Cooperative Union (KPCU) strongly denies the claims that it stole coffee from a coffee factory in Meru County.

Chairman Daniel Chemno dismisses the allegations as baseless and unfounded, aimed at tarnishing their reputation.

He advises coffee factories and warehouses to have armed police officers on site to prevent theft.

Let the security agencies investigate the issue and arrest the culprits. We wonder why the factory stored such a large consignment for a long time without police protection,” said the Chairman.

Chemno calls for a thorough investigation into the theft and urges the factory to explain why such a large consignment was stored without police protection.

The officials spreading the rumours are given an ultimatum to retract their statements and apologize, or face legal action.

The Chairman emphasizes the importance of maintaining a good reputation and suggests having armed security agencies at coffee storage facilities to prevent theft.
