Poultry farmers in Western have been urged to embrace the best farming practices as a move to help increase food security and meet high demand for the produce.
Western Salesman and veterinary expert Kenneth Odiwuor led a team from Cosmos Pharmaceuticals to educate poultry farmers in Malava Sub County on the best practices .
He urged the farmers to invest in modern eggs, further pointing out that most farmers have failed to follow the laid down vaccine procedures leading to high mortality rate of the birds.
“Cosmos Pharmaceuticals Limited, in collaboration with Jiibo Farm Supplies, is taking action to address this challenge,” he said, adding that they are also taking steps to eliminate counterfeit drugs that have been causing issues in the poultry business.
Jiibo Farm Supplies Director Sammy Otieno said their goal is to enhance egg and meat production to meet the growing demand by the global market.
He announced that the company has established a new branch in Malava to help the region increase poultry production.
