Professional women from Nyanza region have vowed to empower and build the capacities of their colleagues in the region.
Under the aegis of the Professional Association of Nyanza (PANY) Women, the group said that it will tap into its vast skills, experiences and extensive networks to effect the same.
In a communique released in Kisumu after the grand launch of the body, PANY Women said that its main objective is to give back to the community by building the capacity of women and youth groups in the region.
The focal areas they will deal with include; financial inclusion, improving climate-smart agricultural and fisheries production and value chain systems, providing linkages to local enterprises for enhanced growth, and enhancing reproductive health interventions.
Other key areas are; establishing scholarship funds and mentorship programs for students, enhancing professional coaching, exchange programs, networking for growth among members, and promoting environmental conservation.
To achieve these objectives, according to the communique, the organization aims to strengthen linkages with stakeholders who include the Government through various ministries, development partners and the private sector.
The current leadership is made up of Chairperson Betty Adera, Vice Chair Ruth Okowa, Treasurer Silpah Owich, Secretary Joan Obunga, Organizing Secretary Grace Okara, Deputy Organizing Secretary Betty Otiato, Deputy Patrons, Hon. Rose Nyamunga, and Joan Mak’Odawa; and the Patron, Eliud Owalo.
