Mt Elgon tea farmers urged to join co-operatives

Bungoma County Government has begun an aggressive campaign to mobilize tea farmers in Mt Elgon Sub-County to join Co-operative societies ahead of opening of a tea factory in the area.
County Governor, Kenneth Lusaks said his administration is keen to finance the construction of a tea factory in the region once the farmers have joined Saccos to plant tea in their farms.
The Governor spoke recently during a Tea Farmers Field Day organised by Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Authoruty (AFFA) through the Tea Directorate in collaboration with County Department of Agriculture that was held at Kapsokwony in Elgon Ward. – Our Reporter
