Qwetu DT Sacco has slashed its external borrowing from Ksh 261.07 million in December 2025 to Ksh 21.84 million by September 2026, a drop of more than 91 percent in nine months. The deposit taking society now expects to clear what remains by December 2026.
Delegates received the figures at a Special Delegates Meeting held at Two Oceans Hotel in Voi on Saturday, October 31, 2026. They reviewed the Sacco’s progress over the year and then approved its budget for 2027.
That budget puts digital transformation first. It also commits the society to better service delivery, wider accessibility for members and growth that can be sustained over time.

Nickson Mwadime, the Acting Director of Cooperatives in Taita Taveta County, attended as the guest of honour. He commended the Sacco for its progress, but he also had a message for its leadership. Financial growth, he said, only matters when members feel its benefits.
Management echoed that sentiment as the year winds down. Its focus going into 2027, it said, is to build a financially stronger Sacco that creates lasting value for the people who own it.
