Over 5000 farmers in Nakuru County have been linked to their potential markets with the assistance of Vision Afrika Sacco to enable them sell their produce at a reasonable price.
Vision Africa Sacco Marketing Manager Jane Mbinya said that the sacco has decided to initiate that program because of the problem faced by Nakuru farmers in accessing their potential market.
“Hundreds of famers have been running in to losses in the recent years due to lack of market for their agricultural products.” said Mbinya.
“Our aim is to enable all farmers in Nakuru county to reach their target market in order to enable them to sell their products at a good price”, she said.
Mbinya said apart from linking farmers to the potential markets, the sacco also trains farmers on the importance of practicing agri-business.
“We offer free training to farmers in Nakuru County to enable them practice agribusiness in areas like Molo, Naivasha and we are yet to reach other sub counties of Nakuru”, said Mbinya.
She also indicated that the sacco has rolled out training of various groups to enable them change from merry-go-rounds to more advanced financial level.
Mbinya, who was speaking in her office in Nakuru County, said youths in the county have also received training on financial matters.
