Joseph Njoroge, the CEO of Safaricom Sacco, has been named the winner of this year’s Champions of Governance (CoG) Award by the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) in a ceremony held at Mercure Hotel in Upperhill, Nairobi.
The CoG Awards aim to recognize and promote research work related to good governance practices.
Njoroge, who joined Safaricom Sacco in November 2019 from Ukulima Sacco Society, expressed gratitude for the award and credited his family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers for their support.
“I am humbled and grateful for the award. This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support and love of my family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers. Thank you for the honour and for inspiring me to continue striving towards excellence,” he said.
Under his leadership, the Sacco’s asset base has grown from Ksh6 billion to Ksh 11 billion.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Management from Kenyatta University, a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA), a CPA (K), and is a member of the Kenya Society for Co-operators (KSPC) and ICPAK.
Njoroge is known for his vision and strategy development skills, which have helped the organization achieve both short- and long-term objectives.
