Samburu County Woman MP Pauline Lenguris has called for greater support for women-led innovations in natural resource management.
While engaging researchers, policy makers, NGOs and civil society organizations across the globe the MP Lenguris highlighted some of the innovative empowerment programs that Samburu women have involved themselves in.
“Women of Samburu have resolved to traditional weaving of Ushangas, traditional cooking methods apprenticeship programs, leadership and advocacy education and self-reliance, showing resilience, innovation while contributing to resource management and economic empowerment” noted Lenguris.
The MP who was speaking during her keynote address at the International Conference on Gender and Technology 2025, she used the platform to invite congregants to tour Samburu County and promote women’s innovations.
Lenguris also shared some of the adaptive strategies to address climate challenges, resource management and socio-economic inequalities. She enumerated community engagement, education and training, resource mobilization and funding, early warning systems and support and collaboration with technology.

She emphasized on the importance of policy support while urging stakeholders and leaders to strengthen gender responsive policies to enhance women access to resources and decision making opportunities.
Additionally, she stated that capacity building, partnerships and holistic interventions would support more women-led initiatives and awaken more to join the innovation space.
