SASRA advertises CEO position

The Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) has announced a vacancy for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), setting the stage for the recruitment of a substantive head to steer the regulation of Kenya’s SACCO sector.

In a notice on Tuesday, February 24, inviting applications, the Authority said the successful candidate will be appointed on a four-year contract, renewable once subject to satisfactory performance.

The CEO will report to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for providing overall strategic, operational and administrative leadership.

Key responsibilities include implementing board policies, spearheading institutional strategy, overseeing resource mobilization and management, strengthening ICT systems, promoting good corporate governance, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The CEO will also coordinate directorates and divisions, foster partnerships with local and international stakeholders, and create a conducive work environment that promotes ethical practices and performance.

Applicants must be Kenyan citizens with at least 10 years’ experience in financial management, cooperative practice, law, finance or economics, including five years in senior management. They must demonstrate strategic leadership capabilities and meet the integrity requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, including clearance from relevant oversight bodies.

Applications are to be submitted via email to ceorecruitment@sasra.go.ke  by March 18, 2026.

The recruitment comes as CPA David Sandagi continues to serve as Acting CEO, having taken over in August 2025 following the departure of former CEO Peter Njuguna who completed his term after leading the Authority through a transformative period.

SASRA operates under the Ministry of Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development is mandated to license, regulate and supervise SACCOs across the country.
