Siaya traders get KNCCI loans

By Erick Nyayiera

Small scale traders in Siaya County have received business loans from Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI’s) MasterCard programme.

The KNCCI Siaya branch Chairperson Mrs. Roseline Omuga said the first group of traders at Kambare trading center in Gem sub-county have received a minimum of Sh30,000 interest free loans.

She encouraged more traders from across the county to continue applying for the loans when visited the Sacco members at Kambare.

Omuga said the programme will run for the next one year and impressed upon the traders to put the loan into good use so as to be able to repay with ease.

Beatrice Achieng Otieno of Kambare Traders Sacco confirmed that they have started receiving the funds.

She was happy that the loans will enable them to boost their businesses, same to Hulder Obiero who expressed her gratitude to the KNCCI and the government for the support.

She however pleaded with the KNCCI and the government to reconsider the repayment period, noting that the two months repayment period which has been given is too short.
