Stima Sacco announces job vacancy for Insurance Manager

Stima DT Sacco Society Limited is seeking to hire a new Insurance Manager. It seeks a qualified professional with strategic orientation and strong sense of professionalism.  Once hired, the Insurance Manager will have a vital role to play in spearheading change and enhancing member experience through innovative solutions.

The successful candidate will manage Mpawa Insurance Agency in Parklands, Nairobi. The Insurance Manager will report to the Chief Executive Officer and will be also be tasked with overseeing the day-to-day operations, management of resources and ensuring excellent customer experience.

Some of the required qualifications and experiences include a Bachelor’s degree in Insurance or Commerce from a recognized University and Insurance Regulatory Authority regulations, Insurance Institute of Kenya or Associateship of Chartered Insurance Institute. Also he should have minimum six years’ experience with three years at supervisory position and have extensive knowledge of marketing, insurance products and services and

The candidate will also be required to have other behavioural competencies like ability to make operational decisions; Stakeholder management; leadership, interpersonal and team management skills and ability to create good rapport with the customers and other stakeholders. Also he or she should possess exemplary levels of honesty and ethical behavior as well as experience in entrepreneurship and innovation.

Some key responsibilities for the successful candidate  include participation in the formulation and implementation the company’s business strategy; providing periodical reports on the performance of the business to the Executive, Committee, Chief Executive Officer and the Mpawa Board; administering insurance policies including monitoring of claims and recoveries; initiating marketing initiatives and conduct business promotions to enhance penetration and brand visibility; achieving high quality customer service delivery and consistently improve customer experience; identify new market opportunities, gather business insights, understand customer trends, and developing appropriate businesses.

Stima Sacco was established in 1974 to serve employees of the then, East Africa Power and Lighting Company. Since then, it has grown its membership to people working in various sectors and business groups. Towards the end of 2023, the Sacco had a total membership of 200,145 members and an asset base worth KSh59.15 billion. It also collected earnings of KSh1.4 billion last year.

Since its inception, it has hired over 30,000 employees and currently has nine branches in several counties with its head office located at Stima Sacco Plaza along Mushembi road in Parklands, Nairobi County. Its current CEO is Dr Gamaliel Hassan.
