Boresha Sacco launches Iten branch

By Dennis Bett

Boresha Sacco has opened the Iten Branch in Elgeyo Marakwet County as it continues with its expansion plan to reach more members.

The new office will target the growing business community around the agricultural town and surrounding rural areas.

Corporates, private schools and Small and Medium Enterprises have set up shops and offices in Iten town, hence creating an avenue for the Sacco to tap more members and expand its clientele.

The branch opening that was marked by pomp and colour was presided over by the County CEC Joseph Kiyeng who represented Governor Alex Tolgos.

Kiyeng praised and congratulated Boresha leaders together with  its members for deciding to  open the branch.

“The office will assist in offering quality and affordable loans to members as well as provide employment opportunities to the locals thus improving their standard of living and raising the economy of the growing town,” said Kiyeng.

Iten branch now joins a growing list of 16 branches established by the vibrant Sacco, whose branch network is spread in Eldoret, Nakuru, Rumuruti and Kapsabet, which are outside Baringo County, its native home.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jacob Mengich said a marketing desk was opened in the town in 2019 after feasibility studies by the Sacco.

They started branch operations in early 2020 after approval by Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) leading to the official opening in March 2021.

The Sacco has so far netted over 3,000 members across the county.
