Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives, and Enterprise Development Martha Cheruto has urged cooperators to work on increasing their Sacco shares and deposits to enable them to access the County Enterprise Development Funds that attract low-interest rates on loans.
“Higher savings enable one to qualify for higher loans,” she said.
The CECM advised farmers to store some of their produce and sell them during the low seasons.
She also urged farmers’ cooperatives to venture into milk value chain, potato, avocado and coffee farming because they are the most valuable crops for production.
Area MCA Isaac Chirchir called on the cooperative department to organize proper training for Sacco members to reap benefits as intended.
Cooperatives Commissioner Roselyne Rae urged members to enroll their children in cooperatives to enable them to learn the value of saving from an early age.
