- Thousands of farmers are benefiting from a growing support network across Homa Bay
- New funding is helping farmer groups strengthen their financial base
- Young agripreneurs and digital tools are expanding support available to farmers
The National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) has mobilised 147,285 farmers across 5,572 groups in Homa Bay County, unlocking millions in grants, savings and loans for local agriculture.
The milestones were announced on September 23, 2026, highlighting the project’s growing impact on farmer livelihoods across the county.
Through NAVCDP, Ksh58 million in inclusion and matching grants has been channelled to farmer groups across 20 wards. The support has, in turn, spurred significant financial activity among members.
Farmer groups have raised Ksh6.9 million in share capital and Ksh28.3 million in deposits, while Ksh30.1 million has already been advanced to members as loans. Together, the figures point to a growing culture of savings and access to credit within Homa Bay’s farming communities.

Beyond financial inclusion, NAVCDP has extended Ksh8 million worth of support to 160 demonstration sites, giving farmers hands-on access to improved agricultural practices and technologies.
The project has also onboarded 260 young Agripreneurs to offer direct support to farmers, alongside the deployment of 40 Digital Agricultural Resource Kits aimed at strengthening extension services in the county.
These efforts form part of a broader strategy to transform agriculture in Homa Bay by enhancing food production and productivity, promoting value addition, creating jobs, improving incomes and building sustainable livelihoods.
