Kenya is preparing for a major national agriculture summit that will bring farmers, county governments, young innovators and partners together to take stock of the country’s agricultural transformation and chart the way forward.
The National Agriculture and Food Systems Transformation Summit is scheduled for October 7–9, 2026, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), with the final day set to take place at State House.
The preparations were discussed during a briefing convened by Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.
The summit will provide a platform for stakeholders from across the country to review progress in the agriculture sector and shape the next phase of Kenya’s transformation agenda. The discussions will circle around food security, food sovereignty and better jobs.
The participation of farmers from across the country is expected to give prominence to the realities facing producers, particularly as the country seeks to strengthen its food systems and unlock greater opportunities in agriculture.

The agenda also carries significance for the cooperative sector, particularly in discussions around farmer aggregation, market access, value addition and access to finance and services.
These issues are closely linked to the everyday experiences of farmers whose livelihoods depend on the performance of agricultural value chains, from production and aggregation to markets and the eventual returns from their produce.
The summit comes at a time when agriculture remains central to Kenya’s economy and food supply. For millions of farming households, the real measure of transformation will ultimately be whether agricultural opportunities translate into improved incomes and more secure livelihoods.
As stakeholders converge in Nairobi, the focus will therefore go beyond discussions and plans to what agricultural transformation means on the ground.
With farmers at the centre of the conversation, the summit is expected to provide an important platform for shaping the next chapter of Kenya’s agricultural transformation.
