Members of Mukamukuu Farmers Co-operative Society in Matungulu Sub County have been cautioned to be wary of unlicensed surveyors who have been erecting illegal beacons to survey land parcels for members.
The society’s outgoing chairman, George Mutiso said several members had fallen victims to the scam, which he said was being perpetrated in cahoots with some local administrators.
“I am warning anybody putting up illegal beacons in the society’s farm without clearance from the management that they risk prosecution because the society’s regulations concerningsurveying and erection of beacons are clear,” he said
Mutiso said several members had lost their land parcels through fraud and called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to speed up investigations into some cases where members’ identification documents had been forged and their land transferred to other individuals fraudulently.
