County organizes capacity building for Coops, Saccos to enhance productivity

Uasin Gishu county department of Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development has organized a highly impactful capacity building and training exercise for Saccos and cooperatives to enhance the movement’s productivity in the area.

The department’s CECM Martha Cheruto said the training focused on share mobilization, bookkeeping and auditing, management strategies and embracing new technological trends and advancements.

She stated that investing in these aspects is crucial in optimizing output from cooperatives and Saccos.

She urged cooperatives to take advantage of the county enterprise loans which have lower interests compared to loans by other institutions.

Ben Rop, who represented Acting Commissioner for Cooperatives Roselyne Rae affirmed the county’s commitment to improve the cooperative sector.

He stated that cooperatives are very important for the improvement of the economy and urged them to broaden their reach beyond the county’s borders

He stated that the county is nurturing a thriving cooperative ecosystem by equipping cooperative societies and Saccos with vital knowledge and skills and by encouraging innovation and inclusivity to make a lasting positive impact.
