Huge potential remains unexploited in the Co-operative sector

The Co-operative movement potential in Kisumu County has not been fully exploited, the Chairman of Ushirika Council Kisumu County, Edward Matoke (pictured) has revealed.
Matoke said that the parameters that indicate performance of the Co-operative movement in the County had shown that there were a lot of opportunities and advantages that were yet to be exploited by the locals and the leadership.
“There is need for the movement to up its game by introducing fast moving products like 24 hour loans, providing customer education on products and services and alternatively increase membership to include spouses and open common bonds,” said Matoke.
He was speaking during the 2017 Ushirika Day celebrations at the Lions High School.
The Chairman noted that there was an increase in Matatu Saccos over the years which he said resulted from the introduction of new rules by the National Transport and Safety Authority.
