Nakuru County Chief Cooperative Officer Kibet Kurgat has urged Sacco officials to market their products and services more aggressively and initiate campaigns to create awareness in order to increase membership.
The Officer said that new members will join the Saccos only if they understand the benefits in store for them.
Kurgat, who was speaking at Kabarak University Sacco’s Special General Meeting, also urged Saccos’ management in the county to provide quality services and products to their existing members.
He promised that the county will ensure a conducive environment to enable their growth and called for cooperation in order to realize financial stability for members.
“For many years, Saccos have been the vehicle for economic development in the county. I urge all Saccos to work together for the common goal of uplifting the economic status of residents,” he said.
He added that when a Sacco prospers, it has a positive impact on the county thus the desire by his department to support and ensure they prosper.
The Officer urged Sacco members to remain loyal and actively involve themselves in their success by recruiting new members to increase savings and borrowing power.
Kurgat was accompanied by County Director of Cooperatives Josephine Ngandu and other county officials.
