- KALRO showcases research-driven technologies at Nairobi Trade Fair
- Farmers get a look at innovations across crops and livestock
- Climate-smart solutions feature among the technologies on display
The Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) showcased a range of research driven technologies and innovations aimed at helping farmers improve productivity and adapt to changing agricultural conditions at the Nairobi International Trade Fair.
KALRO Board Chairman Benson Ngure, Director General Patrick Ketiem, Deputy Director General for Crops Alice Murage and senior management officials visited the organisation’s stand to explore its latest agricultural innovations.
Show Committee Chair Karl Nyabundi and Show Coordinator Kirwa took the delegation through the exhibition. There, they viewed climate smart technologies, innovations and management practices (TIMPs) developed to address challenges facing farmers.
At the crops section, KALRO showcased innovations covering genetic resources, soil management, horticultural crops, oil crops, cereals and pulses, food safety and value addition.

Additionally, the exhibition featured improved crop varieties and technologies designed to enhance farm productivity and strengthen resilience.
On the livestock side, the organisation displayed innovations in dairy, beef and poultry production. It also showed technologies covering animal health, probiotics and value added livestock products.
KALRO said its focus is to bridge the gap between agricultural research and the practical needs of farmers by making research based knowledge and technologies more accessible.
Furthermore, the organisation is using the trade fair to demonstrate how research can be translated into practical solutions for challenges experienced by farmers and other players across agricultural value chains.
Through the development and promotion of tested technologies, innovations and management practices, KALRO aims to ensure that research findings have a direct application in farming activities.
