Kwale Cooperative societies urged to adopt ICT to enhance service delivery to members

Cooperative Societies in Kwale County have been urged to adopt Information Communication Technology (ICT) in a bid to enhance efficiency in service delivery to members.

Speaking to Sacco Review from Kwale town recently, Kwale County Cooperative director, Mohammed Mkanga revealed that the trend is the fastest way of serving members in the Cooperative movement.

He further advised Saccos in the county to exercise high degree of good leadership and good governance so as to ensure effective operations, disclosing that the move will retain members in the Saccos.

“Poor leadership and poor governance in the Saccos in the region would automatically lead to the withdrawal of members”, explained Mkanga.

Additionally, he urged Sacco members to develop a saving culture rather than consuming culture, noting that the trend would lead them to great losses.

Mkanga however advised members to borrow loans wisely and use it for the intended purposes only, but not to divert it for other unplanned uses for stability and prosperity.

“You should therefore pay your loans promptly which you took from your respective Saccos so as to enable other members to benefit from the same loan product”, Mkanga told members.

He further warned members against defaulting, adding that defaulting was a serious offence that when one is blacklisted by Credit Reference Bureau will never get loans forever.

At the same time, the County Cooperative director asked county residents who have not joined Saccos to do so immediately and invest heavily so as to get bigger loans at the end of the transaction period to accomplish their personal development projects.

He also noted that many people in the country have managed to implement their personal development projects through taking loans from their respective Saccos.

“Through joining Saccos is the right direction to go”, noted the County Cooperative director.

He, however revealed that the Cooperative Movement plays a vital role in the country, that of uplifting living standards of people.
