Kilifi Women Empowerment Cooperative Society (KWECOS) launched a Sacco recently aimed at fostering financial growth and empowerment members.
KWECOS chairperson Ephie Wesa said the formation of the Sacco will empower women who have facing financial challenges in the county, urging them to join the Sacco in numbers.
Speaking during the launch the chair said they have partnered with the county government of Kilifi to reach women at the grassroots level.
She noted that the Sacco has currently 357 registered members, it will also conduct a recruitment drive in all the wards in the county targeting to register at least 1000 new members from each ward.
The Sacco was launched by Kilifi Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa Chibule who urged women to join the Sacco to receive support through loans at lower interest rates.

The Sacco whose motto is ‘Breaking barriers and building bridges’ and wants to foster development for women, it has so far collected KSh208,000 in membership fees and Sh48,000 in savings.
Members will access to loans at favorable interest rates, lower than those offered by traditional banks.
It also has various policies and insurance packages that members would highly benefit from.
The officials assured members of the safety of their money, the Sacco follow laws formulated by government to protect members interests and deposits.
