Nyamira County Government has started a Sacco for persons with disabilities to enable them improve their standard of living.
The Sacco that was launched last December by Governor John Nyagarama will cater for more than 20,000 people with disabilities perceived as under-privileged in the society.
At a ceremony attended by top County Government officials and members of the public, Nyagarama said the Sacco was the first of its kind and will go a long way to create avenues through which the members can access credit facilities with ease.
The ceremony took place at Nyamira Hotel during International Day for the Disabled Persons. The Governor said the number of people with disabilities in the County was manageable and promised his Government will involve them in all social-political and economic activities in the County.
‘These people have a lot of talent that has not been utilized for their good. My Government will set up a show room where items they have made will be displayed annually for the public to buy to generate income for them,” said the Governor.
