Teachers, friends and relatives turned up in large numbers to pay their last respect to Ollin Sacco National chairman of Geoffrey Njeru.
Held at the Kianyaga stadium, the burial ceremony was also attended by pupils from Rwambiti Primary School where he was the patron and a former head teacher.
He leaves behind a widow and a son.
On the morning he died, Njeru woke up as usual to attend to his duties before collapsing.
He served as the Sacco’s director before becoming the chair.
Before joining Ollin Sacco, Njeru was a delegate at Fortune Sacco.
Ollin Sacco acting chair Dickson Munene eulogized Njeru as a visionary leader who was humble, approachable, generous and a philanthropist at heart.
“We have closed our branches to come and pay our respects to our departed chair. We have indeed lost a very visionary leader,” Munene said.
Ollin Sacco has 80 staff with 26,000 active members spread across Kajiado, Narok, Kirinyaga and Nairobi counties.
Sacco CEO John Gathige eulogised the late, adding further that the Sacco has many plans to become more vibrant and serve customers effectively.
Gichigu MP Gichimu Githinji eulogised the deceased as a personal friend and noted that through Njeru’s efforts, Rwambiti Primary School was able to get an infrastructural facelift.
