Residents of South Imenti Constituency have continued to benefit from the ongoing Economic Empowerment Programme spearheaded by area Member of Parliament, MP Dr. Shadrack Mwiti, as hundreds of youth, women, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) received financial support during the second day of cheque disbursements in Igoji East Ward.
The event, which took place at Nkumbo Chiefs Camp and Gikui Coffee Factory, drew large crowds of jubilant residents who praised the initiative for restoring hope and promoting self-reliance among grassroots communities.
Speaking during the exercise, Dr. Mwiti said the empowerment initiative is part of his broader plan to uplift livelihoods and stimulate economic growth in South Imenti through small-scale enterprise support.
“This programme is not just about giving money; it’s about restoring dignity, unlocking potential, and ensuring that no one in our constituency is left behind. We are working closely with the national government, particularly the Office of the Deputy President, to make sure that every eligible group benefits from this initiative,” Dr Mwiti said.

He urged residents who are yet to receive their cheques to remain patient, assuring them that distribution will continue across all wards before the end of the week.
“No group will be left out. My office is committed to transparency and fairness in ensuring that every youth, woman, and person with disability gets the support they deserve,” he added.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Dr. Mwiti, describing the programme as a lifeline that will help them start or expand small businesses and support their families.
The Economic Empowerment Programme, which forms part of Dr. Mwiti’s Transformation Agenda for South Imenti, is set to continue across other wards in the coming days.
