Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that the Government is committed to ensure the success of the affordable housing programme.
He said the programme is enabling youth earn their daily bread and has also assisted in reducing cases of alcoholism and drug abuse.
“The President is very clear on his intention which is for the youth and the women to get jobs and earn a living. This programme is very important because, on top of providing decent shelter, it is creating employment,” he said.

He spoke today when he inspected the progress of Majombo housing project Embu County.
The Deputy President witnessed the signing of an agreement between the National Housing Cooperation, the county government of Embu and the artisans.
He also asked Kenyans with skills to enrol for the recognition of prior learning programme to obtain certification.
At the same time, he called on doctors to go back to work.
Last month Housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga said at least 5,525 units of affordable housing are being constructed.
