A suspected drug trafficker has been arrested after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Nairobi Region seized cannabis worth approximately Sh870,000 during an intelligence-led operation in Nairobi.

The suspect, identified as Caleb Wanyonyi Mukwenyi, also known as “Jay,” was apprehended along Waiyaki Way following investigations targeting narcotics trafficking networks operating within the city.

According to the DCI, detectives recovered 29 kilogrammes of cannabis during the operation.

The consignment is believed to have been destined for distribution within Nairobi’s Central Business District and surrounding areas.

Authorities said the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to crack down on the illegal drug trade and dismantle criminal networks involved in the trafficking and distribution of narcotic substances.

The suspect remains in police custody and is undergoing processing pending his arraignment in court.

The DCI reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and protecting communities from the harmful effects associated with narcotics abuse.

Members of the public have been urged to support the fight against drug-related crimes by sharing information with law enforcement agencies through the DCI’s anonymous reporting channels.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the source of the consignment and identify other individuals who may be linked to the trafficking network.
