Trans National Sacco (TNT), formerly Trans Nzoia Teachers Sacco (TTS) has rolled out an ambitious plan that will see it open up a branch in each town within the North Rift region as well as grow membership to 50,000 by 2020. The society’s management recently met in Eldoret for a oneweek workshop to strategize and draw up guidelines that will enable it achieve their targets. The meeting was attended by Supervisory Committee Chairman,
Evans Sichanga, Chief Executive Officer, George Malava, Board of Directors Chairman, Christopher Nyongesa and Secretary, Manoa Alichula. Sichanga said the Sacco has already opened a new branch in Kiminini and will open more branches in Lodwar town and Lokichar in Turkana County this year as it expands to other areas. He disclosed that the Sacco is conducting an aggressive recruitment exercise, targeting Civil Servants, CountyGovernment employees and the business community.
“We want to bring on board localpoliticians and opinion leaders who have invested in other microfinance institutions so as to help the Sacco grow and have a national outlook. We are doing road shows and educating members and those who are not aware of the benefits of joining us,” he said.
Malava said that as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, the Society plans to sponsor education of bright but needy students from the area.
