315 groups in Kilifi North Sub-county benefit from KSh24.8 billion Uwezo Fund

Some 315 groups in Kilifi North Sub-county in Kilifi County have benefited from the Government Uwezo Fund amounting to KSh24,810,000, Sacco Review has established.

Speaking to Sacco Review in her office in Kilifi town recently, Kilifi North Sub-county Youth development Officer, Roselyne Wekoto revealed that the revolving  funds have been disbursed to the groups to boost their activities as they repay.

She further disclosed that the groups comprise 131 Youth groups who received KSh10, 500,178, Women groups who got shillings KSh13,840, 000 and six groups of people with disability received KSh470,000 respectively.

The officer decried low repayments by the groups which were given the Uwezo Fund by the Government.

However he stated the groups are supposed to have repaid the Uwezo Fund loan by 50 per cent by now, but surprisingly enough the groups have so far repaid 13 per cent which is extremely too low.

She also asked the groups to hasten the repayment of their loans so as to enable other groups to benefit from the same loan products.
