Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has revealed plans to restructure cooperative societies to boost their efficiency and allow them support farmers more effectively.
Speaking at a burial ceremony in Kabuchai constituency, Lusaka underscored the critical role that cooperatives play in empowering the local farming community and lifting the region’s economic prospects.
“Cooperative societies are the lifeline of farmers’ economic empowerment,” Lusaka stated. “We must streamline them to enhance their operations, ensuring that they provide better services and support to our farmers.”
Lusaka called for more stringent management practices within cooperative societies, advocating for the election of qualified leaders who understand the challenges facing farmers and can steer the societies toward better performance. The governor’s move reflects his broader commitment to accountability and efficiency across all sectors of the county’s administration.
